Hello and welcome to the online home of Ricardo Zwietisch MMus, ARCM (Royal College of Music, London), BMus Performance (Mozarteum College)
Born in
São
Paulo, Brazil, I have performed extensively as soloist, chamber musician and as an orchestral musician in South America, North America, Europe and Asia. After finishing my formal studies at the Royal College of Music in London, I became a member of the Academy of St Martin–in-the-Fields
following audition to Sir Neville Marriner
. I have also served as Principal Viola of the Opera Orchestra in São Paulo and Principal Viola of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. In the UK I was Principal Viola with the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra and invited guest Principal Viola for the London Mozart Players and English National Ballet. During my many years in London I have also worked with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonia Orchestra. My greatest passion has always been chamber music and I have extensively recorded chamber music with great artists like Iona Brown and Murray Parahia.

On the education side, my greatest achievements and accomplishments are not the certificates and awards received, or the "A" received by my students, but rather their personal enrichment through a deeper understanding of different cultures related to musical styles and music interpretation, which are beyond the exclusive technical mastery.

"
Ricardo Zwietisch is a very accomplished musician, of a very

high artistic level and impeccable professional ethics”.

Dr Manuel Ivo Cruz, Artistic Director Teatro Nacional Sao Carlos, Lisbon

"…the violist Ricardo Zwietisch gave an outstanding
performance… strong, passionate, impressive and rich in
tone and touch”.
